What Is OLLIE?

OLLIE is a research-based program that develop oral language skills supporting academic achievement in the areas of syntax and morphology.    
Summary
The OLLIE Program was designed to be ready to implement right out of the box with a minimum amount of professional development required. The program comes with all the required materials for easy implementation. The lesson plans are complete and aligned to the common core and are written at a measurable goal level of instruction to comply with all state and federal requirements.   The lessons are all based on a tier system to support RTI. The OLLIE program has two instructional levels: Readiness and Developmental. The OLLIE program has 108 goal-written activity lessons along with progress monitoring forms and procedures for easy implementation.

The OLLIE Program will:
  • Develop oral utterances using the rules for word order such as: (article + noun + verb), (article + adjective + noun + verb), and (pronoun + noun + preposition + article + noun)
  • Generate communication required for verbal interactions in social and educational settings
  • Develop the building blocks for reading and the writing process. Ollie supports and develops the writing process by increasing the standard usage of grammar in the areas of syntax and morphology. Increasing oral language skills will increase writing skills in students. Students "write the way they talk" when first encountering the writing process. Strengthening their foundations in oral language will enhance their skills in writing.
  • Generate oral sentence construction that reflects present, past, and future tense communication
  • Develop the basic morphology of our language: (a) verb tense, (b) pronouns, (c) "wh" questions, (d) prepositions
